Kathy Sherwood, RN, BS, MS has a bachelor’s degree in Health Arts, a master’s
degree in Natural Health and a Certification in Mindful coaching. Kathy offers Life Coaching relating to: Goal Setting, Stress Management, Life Changes and Holistic Living.
Dorothy Tomasic, M.A., holds a Master's degree in Speech and Language Pathology. For 25 years she worked with people of all ages to help them achieve effective communication skills. Her work involved educating and counseling families as part of the process. Dorothy has an Advanced Certification in EPT Works, a mind/body/spirit healing technique that facilitates rapid emotional release. Forgiveness is the cornerstone of this natural healing process.
Mary I. McElroy, Administrator, joined the staff of The Family Center at the end of January 2009. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of St. Mary, Omaha, NE and worked at Union Electric (now Ameren UE) for 34 years retiring in 1996. The Center is a calm and peaceful place to work. It is a wonderful gift to work with the volunteer’s, board and to be the welcoming presence for The Family Center.

Family Center Staff Madeleine
Lane, SSND, MA, LMFT, is a clinical member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy; practicing as a licensed Marriage and Family therapist. She is the director of The Family Center with over thirty years of educational, pastoral and counseling experience, including being a spiritual director. She serves as a guest speaker, facilitator, workshop presenter and is an adjunct university professor. Madeleine’s area of expertise is grief counseling with families dealing with untimely deaths and suffering. “For me it has been a gift to journey with individuals and families and to help make life a little lighter in our world today.”
Laurie Portell Spellmeyer, MSW, LCSW joined The Family Center as a counselor in October 2008. Dedicated to social work since 1990, Laurie’s wealth of past experience includes working with people living with chronic illnesses and their caregivers, and people who are homeless, mentally ill, and/or living with an addiction. Laurie’s special interest is helping married couples strengthen their relationship.
Judy Wylie, LPC, received her Masters in Counseling from the University of Missouri-St. Louis with a major emphasis on Marriage and Family Counseling. She has been a practicing clinician since 1995. Judy has received extensive training in counseling women and children on sexual and physical abuse, as well as chemical dependency, addiction, and childhood developmental psychology. Her work involves assisting couples to learn to build intimate relationships and families to practice positive interactions. In addition, Judy assists clients with issues such as depression, anxiety, anger management and recognition of personal mental health needs. Judy has developed and conducted workshops throughout the St. Louis area.
Mickey Linck, CHTP came to the Family Center in January 2010 as a provider of alternative therapies. Mickey has been doing energy work since 2003. A Certified Healing Touch Practitioner, she also uses Medical Intuitive and Energetic Transformation techniques in her practice. Mickey is a member of Healing Touch International and a member and on the Board of Healing Touch St. Louis. She holds a certificate in Pastoral Studies, masters level , from Loyola Institute for Ministry, Loyola University, New Orleans. "All work is self-healing and takes place on many levels. It is so rewarding to see the changes that are effected when clients are exposed to this work. It's such a joy to be part of the Family Center. I feel blessed to work with this wonderful group and the community of people we serve."
