Mary
Margaret Program Through this ministry, The
Family Center reaches out to low income single mothers and their children, providing
individual counseling, support groups, educational programs, and on-site school
visits. Single mothers have the chance to share their daily challenges and frustrations,
learn parenting skills, and simply feel less alone in their struggles. Clients
of the Mary Margaret and Therese Programs are charged fees according to a sliding
scale. In addition, grants and donations help support these programs.
Therese
Ministry This ministry allows The Family Center to
reach out to older adults by providing home and nursing home visits, by networking
with other health care providers, and by counseling extended family members. As
people age, they are prescribed medications for their many physical ailments,
but they rarely receive the emotional and spiritual help they need. The
Family Center offers spiritual guidance and a caring presence to older adults
as they near the final days, weeks, or months of life. Their families are offered
the help they need in order to stay connected during the grieving process. | Grace
Ministry Through its Grace Ministry, The Family Center
reaches out in particular to families and individuals who are experiencing the
overwhelming grief that comes from the tragic or untimely death of a loved one,
such as a parent's loss of a child or a child's loss of a parent. With help, family
members learn how to integrate the loss as an experience of grace and preparation
for new life, as well as how to care for one another during the grieving process.
Ongoing groups are available with Madeleine.
The
Grace Ministry is completely funded by donations.
